Log 1

Hi, I'm Neil. I didn't really like reading when I was a kid, but I saw the movie Harry Potter, and it got me into reading. Originally I watched the movie, but then I went on to read the novels as well, and that's probably what opened up reading for me. Harry Potter not only opened up my imagination, but also helped me to read more fluently in my writing. Listening to music is another one of my passions. Through music I can relax and appreciate different styles and genres of music, which allows me to better understand the expression and transfer of emotions, and I also study lyrics. I also study lyrics. Certain lyrics help me to learn more about grammar and vocabulary.

I consider myself a reader because reading takes up a lot of time in my life because you have a lot of things in your life that you need to read, whether it's a book or a cell phone there's something you need to read. However, I am still working on my identity as a writer and I hope to improve my writing skills through this course. I look forward to exploring more diverse ways of expressing myself or writing down my thoughts and opinions.

  1. Hi Neil!

I believe that my reader awakening was also with Harry Potter! I am older than you, so first, my school made us read Harry Potter 1 as a mandatory reading. Since then, I got hooked, and I kept on reading the stories as they were getting published and also watching the movies after reading. So, it was interesting to see the adaptations, knowing already all the plot. We can say that I appreciate spoilers xD.

I believe that music is very personal, so I'm not particularly eager to share much about it. But recently, I found an artist who likes to write her own lyrics. In an interview, she revealed that she loves reading and that they inspire her to write dramatic lyrics to express herself. That piece of information made me appreciate her art even more. Maybe you might appreciate her too. Her name is Faouzia, a Moroccan-born, Canadian-raised singer who also keeps on studying for her Bachelor's in Engineering.
