     The book I recently read is “DIARY of a Wimpy Kid: OLD SCHOOL”. It adopts a diary way to present the story and I was interested in this book because of its foreword which is about the issue of old life and modern life. Besides, the illustrations in the book look interesting, too.

     After reading a few pages, I have already had some reflection on it. First of all, it talks about a lot of differences between old days and nowadays. For example, 

people use legs for getting around but now we have many ways of transportation. Besides, in ancient period, human in neighborhoods know each other and they are just like a giant family. However, now we tend to know others on screen and take less time to know people around us. These differences make me think about the advantages and the disadvantages of developing world. In the book, the parents of main character always praise old days and compare them with nowadays, even engaging in a petition of stopping using phones and electronics gadgets for 48 hours. Yet, the main character doesn’t see eye to eye with them. He thinks they’re just jealous about the fancy technology in his generation. 

     In my opinion, this is also a reason why older generations and our generation can’t understand each other. I think both sides won’t be fully wrong because modern inventions definitely bring us a lot of convenience and we meet less challenges in our daily life. However, using technology such as smart phone also influences the interaction between human because more and more people contact with others by using phone but not being face to face. In this case, our world may be lack of human touch, which also will affect our skills of communication.

     I believe I will know more differences that I didn’t expect when I keep reading the book. Also, I’m curious about wether the main character and his parents will change their mind at the end of the story.
