Log 2

The book I’m still reading is “ Diary of a Wimpy Kid- Dog Days,” written by Jeff Kinney. I borrowed it from the library of our school. I have never read this series before, but I was initially attracted to it because of the illustrations on the cover. Also, my classmate recommended this book to me at the same time. The vocabulary in this book isn’t particularly difficult, but it still gives me a lot to reflect on.

This book is the fourth in the series, and it’s about the main character, Greg's, summer vacation. After reading about half of the book, what impressed me the most were the parts about family and love. During the summer vacation, Greg wanted to relax and play video games, but his parents hoped he would join more family or outdoor activities, like going to the pool or camping with the family. However, these activities felt like a burden to Greg because he didn’t enjoy outdoor activities. Additionally, during this time, he developed a crush on a girl named Holly and tried to get close to her, but he always messed things up and made things awkward.

This made me think of my own life. During the summer vacation, I’m always excited and want to plan something meaningful, to make good use of those 2-3 months. However, since I became the public relations officer of club, I have lots of performances to practice and administrative tasks to handle, so I can’t get a part-time job. When I stay at home, my family elders often ask why I don’t go out or get a job, and that’s when I can understand what Greg thought. Doing things you don’t like or things you can't handle makes you even more reluctant and unwilling to do them. As for love, I think Greg and I are similar. We both have some fantasies about the wonderful things, and we hope to make a good impression in front of the person we like, but the more anxious we get, the easier it is to make mistakes. Therefore, I think when it comes to love, everyone needs to take it slow, get to know the other person well before moving forward.

Although I haven’t finished reading the book yet, I feel like the content is very close to my own life. It makes me want to keep reading, also helping me reflect on my own life and make improvements.
