Hi! My name is Joyce. I’m going to share something about myself. When it comes to reading, what I loved the most as a child were comic books. With their vivid illustrations and interesting content, comic books are reading materials that never made me sick and tired of them. As for writing, since we are in an era of advanced technology, I seldom write things personally. Instead, I text almost all the time. As far back as I can remember, most of the writing I did was in school or for birthday cards for my friends, haha!
Now turning to my interests, I really love singing! Singing makes me feel relaxed, pleasant, and unrestrained. I have even joined the choir club at our school. For me, singing symbolizes a kind of freedom because I can do something I enjoy.
Regarding my imagination and expectations for the course, I imagine that the goal is to have us read and write through diverse and substantial materials and gain ample knowledge before the course ends. As for my expectations, I hope the course will help me nurture my reading habit and increase my reading speed. Additionally, I hope that the abundant reading will improve my terrible writing skills. To meet my expectations, I will need to plan my schedule and spend more time reading and writing.
When it comes to being a reader and writer, I consider myself a reader. I find that I am reading every day, for example, reading news on my smartphone or watching videos on my tablet. Although these activities are electronic, as long as we actively receive information, I believe it can also be considered reading from my point of view.
This is all about me and my reading journey. Thank you!

You are reading everyday! It is just the devices you use are different.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce! Happy to read you like singing too! I love singing myself, but I never dared to join a group before. In college, tho, I took a choir class and it felt amazing. Singing, regarless of the language, has make me pay more attention to the lyrics. I have found that many people sing along or even dance with songs that do not have a "good" meaning, or that it has an opposite meaning. E.g. "rise you hands if you have never suffer from love" is part of song back home, and everybody rises their hands with an almost crying face. I think they listen "if you have ever*", wish changes the meaning of the song. That is a kinda cute situation for me, but there are worse cases.
ReplyDeleteI like to listen to songwriters (who can sing) and I have always admired their way to express themselves melodically.
Have you ever tried writing a song? Nowadays I am singing lullabies for my baby niece that I made up. I wouldn't name them a proper song yet hehe.
I like to read and watch movies on my iPad. I do most of stuffs electronically as well. But if there is a book I really wanna engage with, then I get it physical. It does changes the experience even with writing. What do you think?
