I'm Shino, and I believe most of you have heard this name since the last semester.
Before I continue, this is the recent picture of me taken in front of the department office, and you may not recognize me immediately due to this new ginger hair and voiceline damaged by the medicine. I can briefly elaborate on what happened during the summer break if you are interested (prolly not).
Without further ado, let me enter today's topic, the path of reading and writing in my entire lifespan. Honestly, I'm not a traditional (Asian if you may wonder) type of readers. I am not able to sit down and read for entire 2 hours without output something. In my childhood to my high school period, I was always the loudest student in my class. I couldn't wait to share my own POV when reading even though nobody in my class cared, well, at least my Chinese teachers liked me, and they may be the only creature that was willing to hear my craziness.
Additionally, I really hate to read through the traditional media such as books or newspaper. They blur both my brain and my eyes, and they make me doubt if I have ADHD. I don't know how to describe it politely, but I think the most suitable word is boring. Sitting in the class, reading for entire 1 hour, not allowed to open mouth...so freaking boring to me.
However, I'm very passionate about the movies and games in sci-fi and fantasy genres. I always introduce my favorite literary works are Cyberpunk 2077 and Warcraft series. I believe that input something created by others can be refered to reading, right? So, my history of reading basically started at the age of 14, when I downloaded World of Warcraft into the only computer in my home. I keep "reading" it till now, with all the other fantasy role play games, which strongly affect my style of writing.
So, my writings contain lots of segments of my imagination and a sense of rebellion. The words may be out of dated or too new and informal, and the logic in my writing may seem chaotic. I think technically they are resulted from my hatred toward traditional/formal reading, and I know I have to improve them for my academic and career performance. But, when it comes to all the magic and neo trash, I am confident in generating one for you. Of course, my grammar and logic suck.

Hi Shino!
ReplyDeleteYOu got me curious, what happened during the summer break?
I think you are too harsh on yourself about not being good at traditional methods. I think you are at least good enough!!
I can wait to see what can you share with the class with your creative mind! In that regard, I wish I can be more like you.
I have a friend with ADHD and she is always surprised that I can sit for hours without moving. Honestly, I don't notice time has passed until I cannot move my body cuz it hurts xD.
Anyway, I am happy to see an active minded individual joining this class. I really think you will like it.
