Hi, I’m Ruby. I used to read Chinese novels in my free time. The types of novels I liked the most were detective fiction and romance novels. Detective fiction makes me think with its plots. If I could come up with solutions to the cases, I would feel a sense of accomplishment as if I were a detective. In addition, I’m a romantic person, so while reading romance novels, I immerse myself in the loveliness of the relationships. Moreover, I have read some Western classic English literature, short stories, and novels since high school, such as Romeo and Juliet, Alice in Wonderland, and so on. I have also taken a writing course that included different types of writing, especially persuasive writing.
I believe this class will help me think critically and enhance my reading and writing skills. Through reading, I can learn more knowledge. Additionally, I will challenge myself to read more difficult literature and use sophisticated vocabulary in my writing. In this way, I might learn with a sense of fulfillment. In my opinion, I consider myself a reader because I always reflect after reading literature. As stated above, I hope to learn everything better and improve myself.

ReplyDeleteWhat you describe about reading Detective novels happens to me when reading Detective Conan. I believe that you know that anime becuase Taiwan is heavily influenced by Japanese media.
I have tried to read their comics but they are so many! of course I haven't finished them. However, I am amazed the level of creativity to always come with a new plot.
I can see you are a higly passionate individual. Don't push yourself to hard tho. The class invites you to enjoy reading and writing. I don't want to see you overwhelm by the end of the term with readings that didn't bring you pressure. But if the challenge of reading more difficult literature is your passion, by all means go for it!
