Log 1

Hi, I’m Linda. I don’t read very actively I have ever read a Japanese novel which is about the life of a transgender. I chose the book originally due to its beautiful cover, but what I didn’t expect is the profound meaning of it. Before reading the book, I didn’t care much about those who have different gender identity and even thought that nowadays the world had been more and more open-minded and had less discrimination to them. However, I got to know that there still much invisible discrimination and in fact they still encounter many difficulties. These things I learned also pushed me think more deeply about races or different individuals.
From this reading experience, I also know that the contents of a book can inspire myself think critically and gain more meaningful things. Hence, I look forward to this course after hearing that it is not only about writing, reading, but also critical thinking. I hope that I can learn a lot of knowledge beyond the curriculum as my prior reading experience.

  1. Hi Linda!
I am glad to read that you had a pleasure experience with a beatiful cover book. We can never really judge a book by its cover, right?
Books can transport us to different worlds, and I am glad you got to go somewhere new for you with a profound meaning.

Life can be full of undiscoverd beatiful covers. Like the Little Prince says, what is essential is invisible to the eyes.

Hope this class can help all of you to experience new ways of thinking critically in an enriching environment.
