 Marking mistakes:

After the car was launched in 1958, its sales performance fell far short of expectations due to errors in market assessment, misjudgment of consumer preferences and overly conservative sales expectations. Despite significant investment in R&D and publicity, Edsel ultimately failed to meet sales targets.

The Mustang was born in 1962 and became one of Ford's most successful models. This reflects Ford's learning from the Edsel's failure and its success in grasping market needs and consumer expectations. The book also addresses whether this success was due to luck or whether it came from the genius of individual leaders, particularly Lee Iacocca.

So I think companies can make huge mistakes in product development, but that doesn't mean it's irreversible. The failure of Edsel shows the importance of market assessment, while the success of Mustang illustrates that adapting to market demand and consumer preferences is the key to turning around a company's fortunes. This reminds us that we should not give up when facing setbacks, but should learn from failures and adjust strategies so that we can succeed.
