Log 4

While reading Chapters 8 to 11 of Pride and Prejudice, I thought more deeply about how class and marriage pressure affect the characters. Bingley’s sisters, Miss Bingley and Mrs. Hurst, look down on Elizabeth, showing how social class can shape people’s opinions of others. This made me reflect on how, even today, we sometimes judge people based on their status or wealth, instead of their personality and true value.

Also, Mrs. Bennet’s anxiety about her daughters’ marriages reminds me of how families still have strong expectations about marriage in some cultures today. Even though modern women have more freedom, marriage is still a big issue. Especially when facing family or social pressure. It shows that marriage isn’t just about two people. It also involves family and social status.

Elizabeth’s confidence and determination really inspire me. She doesn’t let others' opinions or society’s rules change her. And this makes me think about whether I can also stick to my values when under pressure. Her attitude teaches me that, no matter what others think, we should stay true to our principles and not be controlled by society’s expectations. This is something I find very important, especially when facing tough choices and challenges.
